Dedicated Cawston fundraiser Sunathee Findlay is urging people to get behind her projects to help orphans, earthquake victims and people with cancer.

She is supporting four charities this year, starting with an event at Dunchurch sports field and village hall.

Thailand-born Sunathee, known as ‘Stampy’, has organised the event on Saturday, June 28, from 10am-4pm.

The event will include a demonstration by Champion Tang soo do.- run by martial arts experts 3rd dan Jag Basra and 2nd dan Constance Morgan. They hold classes in Rugby for people of all ages who want to learn martial arts.

Sunathee said: “I will also be holding a unique blend of Thai traditional activities such as Thai massage, Thai food and religious activities at Dunchurch village hall.

“I will be raising money for the British Thai Relief Fund to help children in need back home in Thailand, following a recent earthquake.”

She is also helping Saiyai Thai-UK trust to help fund educational scholarships for orphaned children.

“Last year Abbott Wat Sriratanaram, the UK’s most senior Thai Buddhist monk asked me to head up his charity while he returned to Thailand to complete his PhD,” she said.

“Our charities have very similar objectives, to help poor children with their education. He and his fellow monks will be assisting me.”

She is also taking part in Rugby Race for Life on July 13, in memory of her father-in-law who died in November.

The fourth charity is to raise money for a meditation and community centre in Rugby. It has largely been sponsored by the Thai ex-pat community.

She said: “One day I will provide Thai and non-Thai people in the UK - and even Europe - with somewhere they can retreat and take stock of their busy lives.”

Sunathee, a mother of two young children, is passionate about helping other people.

“I hope to see lots of people support my chosen charities,” she said.
