A popular shop in the middle of the Clock Towers Shopping Centre is set to close down today (Friday).

The Works will close its doors for the final time in the shopping centre in Rugby at the end of the day.

In September this year The Works, which sells books, art and craft supplies and games, operated a break clause in its lease within the shopping centre - meaning it could close the store at short notice.

Shortly afterwards closing down signs were put up in the window but bosses at the Clock Towers said negotiations were continuing.

A few weeks ago the closing down signs were replaced by signs saying the shop would remain open.

However this week it was finally decided that the store would close.

Tony Spencer, manager of the Clock Towers, said: “They are closing today. We were negotiating but they decided not to go ahead with it.

“The town could really so with not losing them.”

The unit will be cleared within the next few days.
