Jo and Christian Wilson are building a new swim centre in Hillmorton which will be the first of its kind in the UK.

A new swim centre is going to be built in Hillmorton – and it will be the first of its kind in the UK.

Swim Works has been granted planning permission to develop the former British Legion site in High Street.

The self-financed centre will provide swimming lessons for babies and toddlers, after school lessons for youngsters, adult lessons, aqua yoga and expert coaching for competitive swimmers and triathletes using video analysis.

Swim Works, run by husband and wife team Jo and Christian Wilson, who have been married for 16 years, plans to open in the autumn.

Mrs Wilson, 42, said she was delighted the plans had been approved.

She added: “We are really excited about the launch of Swim Works in Rugby.

“From mums and babies to people with disabilities and athletes, the centre’s sole focus will be to help people learn and become better swimmers.

“Swim Works will work with the whole community.

“We are extremely knowledgeable teachers, with a unique program and lesson style.

“We chose the site in Hillmorton because it has good transport links, parking and links with local schools.

“We are both looking forward to teaching local people of all ages.”

Building work will start in the next few weeks and the centre will create around 10 new jobs.

The fully qualified swimming coaches already run successful ventures Little Splashers , a pre-school swim club which hires pools across Warwickshire and teaches over 600 babies and toddlers a week, and Swimcam, which uses video analysis to provide personalised training for triathletes and swimmers.

Mr Wilson, 41, a competitive swimmer, said he had high hopes for the unique centre.

He added: “We hope to create a swim centre of excellence for all ages and abilities and develop new pioneering approaches to swimming.”

The Swim Works development will include large changing rooms and a training room for swim coaches from across the country to go and receive instruction on Swim Works’ approaches and styles.

The couple are recruiting for staff and are looking to build links with businesses in the area.
