Hunters Lane has now reopened following a gas leak this morning (Monday).

Hunters Lane, just off Newbold Road, has been closed by police this morning dealing with the incident.

Some people nearby were asked to stay inside, while others were evacuated.

Warwickshire Police confirmed that a lorry had crashed into a gas pipe causing it to ‘fracture’.

British Gas and Warwickshire Fire and Rescue were also called the scene.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said this morning: “There was a collision as a gas pipe has been fractured. There are reports of gas leaking.

“People working in the vicinity of the gas main have been asked to leave the building. People in the local area have been asked to stay inside until it is all clear.”

Warwickshire Police later confirmed that the gas leak had been plugged at around 11.40am and that the road had reopened.

A spokesman added: “The gas board is still in attendance. No reports of any injuries.”
