AFTER bringing some of the biggest bands to Rugby since the Rolling Stones, Vault has been nominated for two national industry awards.

PureRawk.com – which specialises in the unsigned, under-ground and grass roots music scenes, has taken note of the venue’s achievements over the 12 months – which include attracting some of the most successful up-coming bands from across the UK and USA. The venue has been shortlisted for Best Local Venue of the Year, while Simon Wilson, its promoter, is up for the Promoter of the Year (for dedication to unsigned and new bands) award for helping reel in the big acts.

The most memorable gigs hosted at the club in 2012 involved Seattle-based super-group Walking Papers, when Guns ‘n Roses veteran Duff McKagan took to the stage, and that of heavy metel giants Skindred, who played last month. Several other high-profile bands and musicians have also appeared over the past year – including Holywood actor Tom Nicholas of American Pie and The Chigago 8.

Callum commented: “As we see a come back into fashion for live music on a national basis the team behind Vault Rugby are extremely proud to have been acknowledged by the industry for our dedication to supporting the local live music scene.

“As a local live music venue we’ve had the pleasure of working with some extraordinary national and international artists during 2012 and for us just being nominated is huge honor.”

The venue already has a packed line-up for the coming months - including an appearence from Anthrax guitarist Scott Ian. The awards are set to take place on March 8.

Simon added: “I’m extremely proud to be nominated to the Pure Rawk Promoter of the Year (for dedication to unsigned and new bands) 2013, its been an amazing year at Vault Rugby and this is really the icing on the cake. The team and i are really looking forward to 2013 and all the awesome live music it has in store for the town.”
