VIDEO: builders hit pipes causing gas leak on housing estate in Rugby

There was a gas leak in Rugby yesterday (Tuesday) after builders on a new housing estate hit two pipes.

National Grid were called to Edison Place in Technology Drive at around 4.30pm yesterday afternoon to deal with a gas leak.

A spokesman for National Grid said: “Two service pipes were damaged by builders.

“These things to happen when they’re digging into the ground.

“There was a gas escape but because it was outside there was no danger to anyone.

“It’s all sorted now and we left the site at around 8.30pm.”

Warwickshire Police were also called to the scene.
