Cawston boy Bryn Richards donated his pocket money to flood victims after being moved by devastating scenes on television.
He gave the donation to British Thai Relief Fund, run by Sunathee Findlay, who lives near the family.
His dad Lloyd said: “Just before Christmas we got chatting to a young homeless man in the town centre.
Without a word of encouragement from my wife Karen or I, Bryn handed Matt £5 of his own money and hoped this would help him.” Bryn, nine, attends Cawston Grange Primary. “I can’t tell you how proud we are of him,” added Lloyd. Sunathee was overwhelmed by Bryn’s kindness. She said: “I couldn’t believe he gave all his pocket money. It’s such a lovely thing to do.”
