Runners dusted off their trainers for the sixth annual Rugby Ready Steady Run on Sunday.

Hundreds of people took part in the popular 5K event, organised by running coaches Ruth Waugh and Kay Shaw.

They staged the first race back for their beginners Ladies’ Running Group and it has grown year on year.

It took place at Rugby Athletics Club, in Bruce Williams Way.

Ruth said: “Everyone had great fun and you only have to look on the smiles on people’s faces to see how much they enjoyed themselves.

“The event is for people of all ages and both sexes. Our youngest participant was eight and the oldest was 72.”

This year’s chosen charity was Warwickshire Association for the Blind.

“People also brought food donations for Rugby Foodbank,” added Ruth.

“The charity was delighted and we would like to thank everybody who supported it.”
