Stormtroopers took a rare step into the light side when they visited Rugby on Saturday.

A fleet of the Galactic Empire’s soldiers visited the Acorns Children’s Hospice shop in High Street, where they collected donations and posed for photographs. Members of Emperor Palpatine’s fearsome ground force ended the day by drawing a raffle.

Joan Hardisty, from the shop, paid tribute to the elite shock troops. She said: “They give up their own time to help us raise money.”

There are no reports of the imposing, faceless, white-clad enforcers of the Emperor’s will attempting to quash any rebellions during their charitable turn.
