A woman has died after the car she was driving left Brinklow Road near Coombe Abbey and hit a tree.

The accident took place on the B4428 at around 8.15am on Sunday. The victim, the only occupant of the car, was driving a silver-colour Chevrolet Lacetti. She was declared dead at the scene.

The B4428 was closed to traffic until 11.30am for collision examiners to attend the scene and for recovery of the car.

Police would like to trace a couple who flagged down a passing motorcyclist near the scene in order for the emergency services to be called. The couple left the scene without leaving their details. Police would like to speak to them as they may have valuable information that can help with the investigation into the cause of the collision.

Police would also like to hear from anyone else who was travelling along the B4428 Brinklow Road near Coombe Abbey, between 8am and 8.15am on Sunday morning and who may have seen the Chevrolet, which was travelling in the direction of Coventry, before the collision.

The couple and any others with information are asked to contact Warwickshire Police on 101 and speak to the investigating officer PC Pat Kearney.
