BREAKING NEWS: police search in Newbold for suspected burglar

Police officers, a helicopter and a sniffer dog team are currently searching for a suspected burglar in Newbold.

Officers received a call from a member of the public just before midday who say they had seen what they thought was a burglary in progress at a house in Main Street.

Officers arrived and searched the property for the suspect, calling on the force helicopter and a police dog team to assist with the search.

He was not found inside and officers are continuing to search the area.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “Police are grateful to this member of the public as their quick thinking could have resulted in an arrest. Enquiries are ongoing.”

Early witness reports indicate the man seen was wearing a grey bobble hat with blue trim and dark coloured jogging bottoms. He’s described as slim build.

Witnesses or anyone with information can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
