Cawston Lane in Dunchurch to benefit from £10,000 Warwickshire County Council funding

FUNDS totalling £10,000 have been allocated to improve Cawston Lane.

It was agreed at a Warwickshire County Council (WCC) Rugby area transport capital meeting held at the Town Hall last week that £10,000 would be allocated for the road near Dunchurch.

Road safety measures along Cawston Lane will include edge of carriageway markings and warning signs to alert drivers for the need to take additional care along the narrow stretches of the lane.

It is hoped that the improvements will reduce the risk of accidents and encourage drivers to slow down.

Last year a petition was launched to try and get something done about the road after numerous complaints from locals.

Initially WCC said it didn’t have the funds but county councillor Robin Hazelton put in a request which was finally agreed.

Cllr Hazelton said: “I welcome these road safety measures as part of WCC Highways further improvement plans for safety on Cawston Lane and to reduce the risk of accidents there.”
