Goodbye to Richard the Bilton barber
Tributes have been paid to a popular Bilton barber.
Richard Wood, who ran Richard’s Barber Shop in Bilton, died last week.
A note was put on the barber shop door which read: ‘Richard has sadly passed away and therefore will be closed permanently from today 26.2.13. RIP.’
Heather Davis, who runs Heather’s Florist, said: “He will be a great loss to the village.”
Richard opened his barber shop in 1963 and became a popular figure in village life.
Villager Nick Shergold said: “ It’s very sad. He was such a big part of the village for 50 years.”
Tributes have also been left on Facebook group ‘Rugby Town....I remember when’.
Caroline Brown said: “My dad went there till he passed away in November 2008. He would not go anywhere else ...said it was the best hair cut in town.”
