PART of a multi-million pound redevelopment of Rugby’s former Cattle Market site will be unveiled to the public next week.
A new extra care housing scheme for elderly people will be showcased for the first time on Wednesday when it will open for viewing for anyone interest in living there.
Farmers Court in Charolais Close, off Craven Road, has been built on the site of the former Rugby Cattle Market.
The £5.8 million complex, which has received £3.2m of funding from the Homes and Communities Agency (HCA), will provide 45 one and two bedroom affordable apartments to rent for people over the age of 55. Unlike standard sheltered housing it has additional facilities and an on-site care service which is available 24 hours a day.
The on-site facilities will include a residents’ lounge, restaurant, hair and beauty salon, guest room for family/friends and landscaped gardens.
A spokesman for Housing 21 said: “Visitors are invited to come along and take a look around the apartments and the on-site facilities. Housing 21 employees will also be on hand to answer questions and guide anyone interested in applying for one of the new apartments through the application process.”
The housing complex will open between 10am and 5pm on Wednesday.
