Man arrested following Clifton Road crash

A POLICE chase ended with a man being arrested in Rugby.

The man was arrested by officers on suspicion of taking a car without the owners consent after the vehicle, a green VW Passat, was in collision with a blue van at the roundabout on Clifton Road shortly before 10.30am on Saturday.

The VW Passat, which is believed to have been stolen from outside an address in Parkfield Road, Newbold earlier that day, had failed to stop for police who had been alerted to the erratic driving of the vehicle on Clifton Road.

Following the collision two males were seen to run from the Passat.

The arrested man, aged 24, was detained on Main Street in Newbold on Avon shortly after 2.30pm on Saturday.

He was questioned in connection with the unlawful taking of the vehicle and has been given police bail, pending further enquiries, to attend Nuneaton Police Station in March.

A second male is still being sought in relation to the incident. A
