Man sledging in a canoe falls down quarry in Napton

EMERGENCY services were called to Napton on Saturday where a man had fallen into a quarry.

A call was received by fire service control at 4.16pm to reports of a person who had fallen into a quarry at Brickyard Road, Napton.

Firefighters, police and ambulance all attended.

The man had suffered a back injury after falling five metres whilst sledging in a canoe.

The rescue operation, which took over an hour, was carried out using specialist equipment.
