Parking and speeding patrols outside Monks Kirby school

Police have been patrolling outside a village school near Rugby to try sort out parking issues and speeding.

A number of concerns were raised at a recent Fosse Community Forum about parking and speeding near the Revel Primary School in Monks Kirby.

Police officers in the area decided to make it a policing priority and so far the team have patrolled outside the school 10 times.

They have also arranged for the taxis collecting pupils to do so from the back of the playground.

PCSO Matt Havelock and PC Vicki Newton also spent the day with pupils at the school where all classes were taught about the dangers of the road and how to stay safe.

During the day children were taught about crossing the road safely, travelling safely in a vehicle and also about wearing bright clothing so they can be seen. At the end of the lesson a competition was launched to design a poster featuring a road sign. The winning poster design will be made into a sign and displayed outside the school to warn motorists.
