Police close Lower Hillmorton Road following crash

Emergency services were called to a crash in Lower Hillmorton Road earlier this afternoon (Friday).

The crash, involving a blue Vauxhall Astra and a silver van, happened just before 1pm.

Police, fire and ambulance were all called to the scene. The road was subsequently closed to deal with the accident.

The driver of the Astra was unable to get out of the vehicle and had to be rescued by the fire service, according to Warwickshire Police.

At around 1.45pm, the Astra driver was taken to hospital. Initial reports suggest that he was not seriously injured.

The road has since reopened.
