RUGBY police have released CCTV images of two men who went into Coral bookmakers at around the time a robbery occurred at the shop in Hillmorton Road.

Police would like to speak to the men in connection with the robbery and are hoping the images will jog the memories of members of the public who may be able to help identify them.

The robbery occurred on Tuesday January 15 at 10.10am when two men entered the shop wearing blue boiler suits and balaclavas.

One of the men stood at the door while the other approached the counter carrying what is believed to be a machete and demanded money from the cashier.

The cashier placed a small amount of cash into a blue holdall and the two thieves ran out of the shop and across the road into Kingsley Avenue.

Witnesses report seeing the men running down Studland Avenue where they are believed to have got into a dark red car – possibly a Renault or a Peugeot before driving off towards Lower Hillmorton Road.

No-one was injured in the incident.

Any witnesses to the robbery or anyone with information on the possible identity of the thieves is please asked to contact PSI 9290 David Flatley in Local Investigation on 01926 415000 ext 6130 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
