Rugby Spring Fair ‘will be back to its best’

One of Rugby’s most popular family events returns this year in May - and promises to be back to its best.

The Rugby Spring Fair has been one of the largest social events held annually in the town for the last 35 years, with regular attendances of up to 10,000 people of all ages.

Last year’s event, held at Caldecott Park, was described by the organisers as a “washout”, with many of its usual stalls absent. Its traditional home of Whitehall Rec was unavailable due to building work on the town’s new leisure centre.

But this year it will be held on Oakfield Recreation Ground, next to the Co-op funeral director in Bilton Road - and organiser Ian Bentlett of Rugby Dunsmore Rotary Club is confident it will be a success.

He said: “This is a major family fun day and we are lucky to have secured a superb venue so close to the town centre.

There will be a full fairground, arena attractions, charity stalls, specialist stalls, food stalls. Various groups will be displaying their skills in the arena.

The date is bank holiday Monday May 6. It will run from 11.30am until 5.00pm.

Call Ian Bentlett on 07730666691 or Joe Sadler on 01788 571317 for more information.
