Rugby woman fights cancer and helps charity

A WOMAN who is battling cancer has launched a £10,000 charity appeal to help others. Tracie Mills is on a mission.
She has her own fight on her hands but wants to raise as much money as possible for the Breakthrough Breast Cancer Charity.
Tracie, of Lytham Road, Rugby, was diagnosed with breast cancer on January 2 this year.
She said: “There are no words that can ever describe the affect it has on you. Initially, you selfishly think it just affects you but when you look around at your family and friends and your support, you very quickly realise it affects everybody who knows you.”
She said it’s a cruel and devastating disease and that’s the drive behind her fundraising appeal.
“My aim is to raise £10k by the end of this year and help in finding a cure,” said Tracie.
“I have decided to turn my negative feelings and emotions into positive actions to get me through the journey ahead and beyond with a focus and to be able to give the breast cancer charity something back so less people have to go through this rollercoaster of emotion and fear.”
Her best friend Helen Miles is having her hair shaved off and has raised £1,400 so far. It will take place in March at Mops Hair Studio in Dunchurch where Tracie used to work. She is holding a ball at Dunchurch Park Hotel and needs raffle and auction prizes.
“It could be a meal, a bouquet of flowers, a holiday let for a weekend, a bottle of shampoo, a hamper of goodies, a manicure, a dance lesson, reduced hire cost, non-uniform days at schools or workplaces, wear a pink tie or bra day, even a gift of your time, absolutely anything that could help raise money for this wonderful cause.”
