Sir Paul McCartney gets to meet rising star from Rugby at Abbey Road Studios

THE New Year looks bright for rising music star Emily Burns.

Her career has taken a dramatic turn upwards in recent months and she is excited about the future.

Emily, 18, seemingly came from out of nowhere, making her mark with the beautiful Stronger Than I Am.

Highlights of her year include meeting Sir Paul McCartney and working with in-house producers at Abbey Road Studios.

She said: “I was invited to Abbey Road as part of a musicians’ masterclass and while I was there I met some amazing people including Tom Robinson, Tinchy Stryder and Calvin Harris.

“The experience helped me learn a lot about songwriting and vocal techniques.”

She described meeting Sir Paul McCartney at Abbey Road as “incredible”.

Emily said: “I walked down to the canteen to get some lunch and he was there getting a cup of tea! So I was lucky enough to sit with him and have lunch.”

During the visit she handed out her CDs and was contacted by voice coach Sam Blue.

“He asked if I had a manager and what the next steps I was taking were,” said Emily, who attends Rugby High.

“I was introduced to Rob Cass at Abbey Road Studios who runs a production company, so I went back down to the studios with my parents, played a few songs and Rob said he was really keen to sign me to his company.”

Emily has been travelling to London, writing and recording for herself and other artists.

“As well as gigging locally I’ve been gigging at really cool venues in London and I have now been picked up by the William Morris Agency who represent some of the biggest artists in the world.”

Emily is managed by Alistair Norbury, who also manages Bryan Ferry.”

Her publicist, Clare Hudson, has worked with artists including Justin Bieber and Pixie Lott.

Emily plans to perform at festivals in the summer and to sign a record deal.
