An adult learning scheme has been launched to boost peoples’ opportunities and quality of life.

Learn Warwickshire, based in Central Park off Leicester Road, is described as a learning hub for communities and the voluntary sector and is part of the Government’s plan to bring about economic and social renewal and ultimately boost Britain’s standings in skills tables. Learn Warwickshire is made of a partnership of Warwickshire Community and Voluntary Action (Cava), the county council and other voluntary and youth groups.

Alison Orr, of Cava, said. “It’s been fabulous to see it develop into what will be a professional service to voluntary and community organisations as well as their statutory and private enterprise counterparts. The whole of Warwickshire can benefit from Learn Warwickshire’s training programme and securing our building has been the icing on the cake and we would like to thank Chartered Accountants’ Benevolent Association (CABA) for their support in securing the lease.”

Rugby MP Mark Pawsey said: “Building the skills of our country’s workforce is a top priority in this Government’s agenda. This not only helps with employment prospects, but it also helps to empower people as individuals.

“I welcome its aim of bringing together training providers to coordinate learning and development and I commend the organisations, such as WCAVA, WAYC and WCVYS, who have already thrown their backing behind this exciting project.”
