Train disruption on Rugby line expected to last all day

A London Midland train

Damage to overhead wires near Milton Keynes is causing disruption and cancellations on the trains today (Friday).

Rail passengers using London Midland and Virgin trains face delays today after overhead lines were brought down, causing disruption which is likely to last all day.

A spokesman for London Midland said: “Due to the overhead wires having been brought down at Hanslope Junction, there are currently no trains running between Northampton and Milton Keynes. As a result, services on the Euston line will be disrupted all day whilst repairs take place.

“Trains can run between Northampton, Rugby and Birmingham New Street but as most services normally come from London, delays and cancellations are likely on this route too. We are extremely sorry if your journey is affected.”

LONDON MIDLAND

*A train shuttle service between Milton Keynes Central and London Euston, departing Milton Keynes Central on the hour and 30 minutes past the hour, and departing London Euston at 24 & 54 minutes past the hour

*Trains between Rugby / Northampton and Milton Keynes Central are suspended. Buses are running instead

*Buses are running between Northampton and Wellingborough to connect with East Midlands Trains services to / from London St Pancras International

*Buses are running between Milton Keynes Central and Luton Airport Parkway to connect with East Midlands / First Capital Connect services to / from London St Pancras International

*Journey times are being extended by up to 2 hours

VIRGIN TRAINS

*Virgin Trains are running a reduced service between Rugby and London Euston

*Buses will continue to supplement the train service between between Rugby and Milton Keynes Central

*Buses are running between Milton Keynes Central and Luton Airport Parkway to connect with East Midlands / First Capital Connect services to / from London St Pancras International

*Journey times are being extended by up to 30 minutes
