Two people seriously assaulted by gang in Coton Park Drive, Rugby
POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault in Rugby on Sunday.
The attack happened at around 4.15am on Sunday in Coton Park Drive, Rugby, when a man and a woman were walking along a footpath.
A small red saloon car - similar to a Corsa or Ford Ka - pulled up alongside them with a distinctive white stripe running across the bonnet and roof.
Two females, one blonde, one dark haired, got out of the car and assaulted the female on the footpath.
The male on the footpath intervened and pushed the two women away from his girlfriend.
A large build male got out of the rear of the car and punched the boyfriend causing him to fall to the ground and it is believed stamped on his head.
By this time the vehicle had driven off and parked up in the entrance to Avocet Close, the two female offenders - the blonde and dark haired female - then ran off towards Avocet Close.
This vehicle was driven by a blonde haired female who appeared to be in her mid twenties. The three offenders are believed to be in their late teens or early twenties.
The boyfriend got to his feet, and was assaulted again by the large male who is believed to have punched him to the ground and stamped on his head again before walking off towards Stonechat Road.
An ambulance was called and the male was taken to University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire for treatment to two blackened and swollen eyes, a cut to his forehead that required six stitches and general bruising to his head.
The female suffered a blackened left eye.
Officers believe this was an unprovoked attack on two victims as they walked home having enjoyed a night out in Rugby town centre and are appealing for witnesses or anyone who can help identify the owner of the vehicle involved to please contact PSI 5132 Ian STOCKWELL at Rugby Police Station on 01788 856123.
