Wanted: talented young photographers and writers for our contest

THERE is still plenty of time to get creative and enter our writing and photography competition.

Last week the three Rotary Clubs of Rugby, in conjunction with the Rugby Advertiser, launched two new competitions - Young Writer of the Year and Young Photographer of the Year.

The theme for both competitions is ‘peace’.

For each competition there are three age categories which are seven to 10 years old, 11 to 13 years old and 14 to 17 years old.

The winner of each of category in the writing category will win a £25 book token, while the winners for the photography competition will get £25 cash.

All entrants will receive a certificate.

Each of the entries for both competitions will be judged by a panel of judges including Chris Lillington, editor of the Rugby Advertiser for the writers, and Mike Baker, chief photographer, for photography.

Winners will be entered into regional and then, if successful, national competition level.

Mr Lillington said: “We’re looking forward to receiving your entries.

“This is a great opportunity for young people in and around Rugby to show us what they can do.”

The closing date for entries is February 25.

Send your entries to Rotary Young Photographer/Writer, Rugby Advertiser, 2 Albert Street, Rugby.

Full details about the competitions including rules and entry forms can be found at www.ribi.org/youth/competitions.
