A reminder has been issued to bus pass holders to ensure that they have a valid pass on April 1.

Holders whose passes expire on March 31 and have not yet received a pass or a letter about renewal should get in touch with Warwickshire County Council beforehand.

New bus passes have been sent out automatically, but some pass holders may not have received them because they have moved house and it has been sent to an old address, or because the county council does not have a copy of a photograph of the applicant.

In Stratford the county council is sending out 20,346 passes, 19,903 to Nuneaton and Bedworth, 15,590 to Rugby residents, 7,786 to North Warwickshire and 22,940 to Warwick.

Cllr Peter Butlin, Warwickshire County Council’s Portfolio Holder for Highways and Transport, said: “If anyone who has a pass which expires at the end of March has not yet received a new one, please check and get in touch with us so that we can arrange for one to be sent out beforehand.

“Anyone who does not have a valid pass on April 1 may not be allowed to travel, so it is important to ensure we have the correct information to renew each bus pass.”

Pass holders can get in touch with us by visiting their nearest Warwickshire Direct One Stop Shop or calling 01926 418026.

The statutory concessionary travel scheme only allows travel between 9.30am and 11pm Mondays to Fridays - and all day at weekends and Bank Holidays – but in Warwickshire the scheme has been enhanced to enable pass holders to travel at an earlier start from 9am and an extra hour in the evening.
