ANGRY customers say they have been left in the dark about refunds after a furniture factory in Rugby was destroyed in a massive fire.

The blaze at Let’s Buy Furniture, in Somers Road, in November, burned all stock and records. But some customers do not know when their cash will be returned or their orders honoured.

Cawston woman Joanne Betts said: “It’s been a nightmare for both me and my elderly father. I think it’s disgusting the way nobody knows what’s happening.”

Joanne ordered a bed for her eight-year-old daughter as part of her Christmas present. Joanne said: “She was really excited about it as she had a room makeover.”

“Jasmine was expecting the bed for Christmas but it never came,” said Joanne.

Her father Thomas bought a leather recliner settee and chairs last October. They parted with £600 between them. Joanne said: “He wanted it in time to have relatives from Australia over to stay but he didn’t get it.

She said her father paid by cheque and hoped to get a refund from his bank.

Joanne said: “We just want to know what’s going on. At his age this is a worry he doesn’t need.”

Michael Walton, from Bilton, said he dismantled his old furniture on the morning the company were meant to deliver a £650 three-piece-suit. He said: “I’ve had nothing decent to sit on since November and I’ve had to borrow a chair off a friend just to make do. I’m worried sick I won’t see a penny of the money I’ve spent.”

The Rugby Advertiser made contact with the company just after the fire. Staff said they were devastated and issued a helpline number. Recent calls to the helpline have not been returned.
