Young writer and photographer competition: cash, tokens and pens up for grab

The deadline to take part in the Young Writer and Young Photographer competition has been extended.

Anyone wanting to take part in the competitions now has until March 1 to submit their entries, leaving plenty of time during and after half term to get creative.

And there are some great prizes to be won - including cash, book tokens and pens.

The Young Writer of the Year and Young Photographer of the Year competitions are being run by the three Rotary clubs of Rugby in conjunction with the Advertiser.

We are looking to find the best young talent that the town has to offer.

The theme for both competitions is peace.

There are three different age groups (7-10, 11-13, 14-17) and all entries will be judged by a panel of judges, chaired by the Rugby Advertiser.

Judges will include Chris Lillington, editor of the Rugby Advertiser, for the writing competition and Mike Baker, chief photographer, for the photography competition.

For the photography competition, each category winner will receive a £25 cash prize.

The winners of each category of the writing competition will receive a £25 book token. There is also a handmade pen up for grabs for the winning writers.

The pens were made in Rugby by woodturner Paul Hancox who runs CPH Pens.

Paul has kindly donated three of his pens as prizes.

The closing date for all entries has now been extended until March 1.

All entries must be at the Rugby Advertiser office by this date.

Winners will be announced shortly afterwards.

For more information, competition rules and an entry form visit www.ribi.org/youth/competitions.

Send your entries to Young Photographer/Young Writer Competition, Rugby Advertiser, 2 Albert Street, Rugby, CV21 2RS.
