LONDON Miidland has delivered an early Christmas present to Rugby, with the launch of a new fast service to the capital, which will take just 56 minutes.
Launched today (Monday), the new service sees journey times slashed by up to 34 minutes, thanks to an upgrade of the trains that enables them to run at 110mph.
This milestone development has been delivered as part of London Midland’s innovative ‘Project 110’, which enables more trains to run on the busy Euston line and will also see the introduction of 10 brand new trains in 2014 to meet increasing demand. London Midland is already one of the fastest growing train operators in the UK.
Further improvements from 10 December have also included additional early evening departures from London Euston to Rugby, offering greater choice and flexibility.
Passengers on the faster services will also be able to enjoy the comfort of London Midland’s Desiro Class 350/1 trains, which include a table for almost every seat.
Prices remain incredibly good value, with advance one-way fares to London starting at just £6, and ‘pay on the day’ return tickets just £21 at weekends.
London Midland Commercial Director, Richard Brooks, said, “It’s great that we’ve been able to launch this improved service ahead of Christmas. The 34 minutes time saving from Rugby makes it much easier for people to use us for a day trip to the capital, while the additional return services give passengers increased flexibility. Better still, our fares continue to offer outstanding value.”
