TRAIN services through Rugby have been disrupted this morning (Friday) after a train was derailed by a cow.

Due to the engineers’ train being derailed by a cow on the line near Long Buckby, there are currently no services between Northampton and Rugby in either direction.

The line is expected to remain closed until around midday and London Midland apologised for any disruption.

A rail replacement bus service is operating between Northampton and Rugby, with a separate minibus serving Long Buckby station.

As London Midland’s main depot is in Northampton, the line blockage is affecting services between Northampton/Birmingham and Northampton/Crewe.

Virgin Trains are accepting London Midland tickets on services between the West Midlands and London, and also on the Crewe/Stoke/Stafford to London Euston route.
