Broadwell Cyclist Luke Keenan, 18, recently raised about 500 for a cancer charity by doing a sponsored cycle ride.

AN 18-year-old who organised a sponsored cycle ride has raised £425 for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Luke Keenan of Broadwell said he’d ride a mile for every ten pounds raised. So on Saturday September 1 he cycled 42 miles around villages near his home. As part of the fundraising ride, he delivered flyers throughout Broadwell and also handed them to friends and family.

He undertook the challenge after a family member and a close family friend both suffered with cancer in the past year.

Luke said: “I’d like to say a big thank you to all my friends and family who have supported me - raising so much made all the work and effort I put into organising the ride worthwhile.”

All the money Luke raised has now been paid to Macmillan Cancer Support. It will be issuing him a certificate thanking him for supporting them.
