A CANCER survivor is calling on women who took part in Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life in the town to make every step count – by returning their sponsorship money.
Michelle Furness from Bilton took part in Race for Life for the seventh time this year and raised £250 to help beat cancer. Now the 51-year-old grandmother of four is encouraging the 1,700 women who entered the event at Rugby School in July to make one last dash for cash. Last year, a third who took part in didn’t return any sponsorship money. Michelle said: “This was my seventh Race for Life and it was very emotional because it marked two years to the day that I had my mastectomy. I was devastated when I was diagnosed. As soon as you hear that word it feels like a death sentence but it’s thanks to research that I am here today.”
