POLICE are appealing for witnesses to a robbery that occurred in Main Street, Newbold.
The robbery occurred between around 8.20 and 8.45pm hours on Thursday when a blue Ford Fiesta car containing three young males parked in the parking area opposite the Co-op.
Two passengers in the car assaulted the driver and one of the passengers then walked with him to the cash point in an attempt to steal money from his account. They failed to withdraw any money, however they then stole £20 that he had on him.
The three males returned to the blue Fiesta and drove to Cawston Grange Drive in Cawston where the vehicle was in collision with a lamppost. The two offenders ran off across a grassed area towards Cawston leaving the male, who had suffered minor injuries, in the vehicle.
Officers believe the two men got into the Fiesta in Railway Terrace at approximately 8.20pm on Thursday 19 April and are appealing for any witnesses who saw the car either in Railway Terrace, Newbold or Cawston to contact them as soon as possible.
In particular officers are keen to trace a car that slowed down behind the blue Fiesta in Cawston, then drove around it when the blue Fiesta stopped in the middle of the road.
If you have any information that could help officers identify the two offenders please contact DC 140 Simon Setchell in Local Investigation at Rugby Police Station on 01788 548106 or independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
