Man attacked with hammer in Rugby

TWO thugs smashed their way into a Graham Road home last Saturday and knocked a man unconscious with either a metal pole or hammer.

The man was injured outside a home in Graham Road, near the train station, on Saturday evening at around 8pm. Police are appealing for witnesses.

A statement from police explained: “Two males, armed with what is believed to be a metal bar or hammer, forced their way into the property demanding information about an incident which occurred earlier in the day.

“Two males who were inside the property are believed to have ushered the offenders outside and in doing so were assaulted. One suffered a small laceration to his forehead but the other, who is believed to have been struck with a weapon to the back of his head, lost consciousness and fell to the ground.”

The man was treated at University Hospital, Coventry. After the assault both offenders left the scene in the direction of the park.

The offenders are described as: One black male, aged late 20s to early 30s, 5’6” to 5’8” tall, stocky build with very short black hair. He was wearing a black, possibly zip fronted, casual jacket with a white stripe on each arm.

The second man was a mixed race male, aged in his late 20s, He was 5’8”-6’ tall, slim build and wearing what is described as a grey, heavy sweat top.
