Man crashes stolen car during police pursuit through Rugby

A police pursuit of a stolen car was brought to an abrupt end this morning (Thursday) after the man driving collided with a tree in Stretton-on-Dunsmore.

A police spokeswoman said: “A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.

“It follows the pursuit of a vehicle on the Straight Mile near to the A45 at approximately 11.10am today.”

She added that the arrested man was the only person in the vehicle when it crashed.

The suspect was taken to University Hospital Coventry to receive treatment for a hand injury and remains in police custody.
