Man dies in road accident on the A426 near Stockton

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to come forward following a crash this morning (Tuesday) during which a man died.

The single vehicle collision happened on the A426 Rugby Road near Stockton.

The red Renault Clio car was being driven along the A426 when it left the road and came to a halt a short distance from the carriageway in a copse of trees. The male driver was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

According to police, his name will not be released until relatives have been informed and formal identification processes have been completed.

Officers would like to hear from anyone who was travelling along the A426, in either direction, between 7.15am and 7.45am this morning who may have seen the red Renault Clio, which was travelling in the direction of Southam a short distance past Stockton.
