Colleagues and friends from University Hospital Coventry said goodbye to one of the longest serving employees when maternity ward manager Caroline Wright retired after 38 years of service to the NHS.

Caroline started working at the old Coventry and Warwickshire Hospital in 1977, completing her nurse training and working as a registered nurse, before starting an 18 month midwifery course at the old maternity unit, qualifying in November 1986.

When asked about her retirement plans, Caroline said: “After 38 years I’m looking forward to a nice long lie-in and I’ve got a holiday booked in a couple of weeks. I’ve really enjoyed my time at the hospital helping all the new mums and their babies.”
