CONNOR Cooke and Georgia Eversden were crowned the 2012 May King and Queen of Provost Williams Primary School.

The Ryton-upon-Dunsmore school carried on the village May Day tradition which has been running for more than 100 years.

After the crowning of Year Three pupils Connor and Georgia, both eight, the rest of the school performed a traditional dance for them. Each class performed a different dance with pupils from nursery to Year Six all taking part.

The following day Connor and Georgia toured the village on a float collecting money from residents, ahead of opening the May Gala at the school.

The event raised £2,000 for the school PTA.

Julie McLardy from the school said: “It was a brilliant couple of days. All the children loved it.”
