POLICE have been carrying out further checks on the A428 near Rugby following a serious crash there last week.

Officers went back to the scene yesterday where a 21-year-old female driver crashed on Monday last week (June 13) on the A428 Coventry Road between Church Lawford and Bretford.

The driver of a silver Vauxhall Corsa car remains very seriously ill in the University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire following the incident last week in which her car left the road and ended up in a ditch after colliding with a tree.

A spokesman for Warwickshire Police said: “We are still building up a picture of the events leading to the silver Corsa leaving the road last Monday morning at approximately 6.45am as the driver drove along her regular route to work.

“This morning police officers interviewed motorists who regularly travel along the Coventry Road, in a bid to gather more information.”

Anyone who was travelling along the A428 Coventry Road between Church Lawford and Bretford on Monday, June 13, who saw the silver Corsa which was travelling in the direction of Bretford and Coventry, is asked to contact the officer in the case PC Gary Wilson on (01926) 415415.
