A GENEROUS donation of £6,500 has been given to Rugby Myton Hospice.

The hospice’s 250+ Club presented the cheque to chief executive Kate Lee, with the money will helping support the charity hospice in Barby Road.

The fundraising club is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and is dedicated to raising funds for Myton Hospice, which provides free palliative day care for people in and around the town.

The club was formed in 1982 and was originally intended to last a year, but after all the effort of recruiting 250 members it was felt that the work to support the hospice should continue. Since then the club has gone from strength to strength with around 500 members and donations totalling £200,000.

A fundraising coffee morning will be held on March 21 at Rugby Methodist Centre from 10am to noon. Entrance costs £3.
