Warwickshire College is delighted to welcome a new chair of governors for the new academic year.
Bernard Doyle took over the position in July and is looking forward to the challenges and opportunities of his new role.
Bernard said: “I have been involved in education for many years, it is something I enjoy and something I can contribute to. What inspires me is seeing people succeed – young people who we can help on the right track and adults who want a second chance at training for a career.
“It has been a difficult time for education recently, but I am looking forward to making the most of the opportunities ahead of us, in particular, working more closely with employers and building our apprenticeship provision.
“Warwickshire College inspires me because of the diversity of our students and the wide range of provision on offer. I look forward to helping many more of our students to succeed during my time as Chair of Governors.”
Bernard Doyle has been involved with education for over 25 years, on the governing boards of schools and colleges, including many years as Chair of Governors of North East Worcestershire College.
In his 45-year business career, Bernard worked in both public and private sectors including as General Manager of the Bristol and West Building Society and Chief Executive of Welsh Water.
From 2003 to 2007, Bernard was Chair of Sustainability West Midlands and in 2000/2001 he competed in the Times Clipper Round the World Yacht Race.
Principal and CEO, Mariane Cavalli, said: “We are delighted that Bernard has taken on the position of Chair of Governors. He has been on the board for over two years and we will continue to benefit from his business expertise as we seek to become more enterprising and innovative as a college.”
