Plans to build 40 new homes and shops in Rugby have been submitted to the borough council as part of an ongoing development.

St Modwen Homes is looking to build a second phase of apartments as its Edison Place development, located off Technology Drive in Rugby.

A spokesman for St Modwen said: “A detailed planning application has been submitted in response to the overwhelming popularity of the apartments in the current phase at Edison Place, which were all sold from plan within just two weeks of being released to the market.”

The 40 one and two bedroom apartments would be spread across six buildings on the site which is part of the multi-million regeneration of the former Alstom industrial site in Leicester Road.

St Modwen has also submitted plans for 10,000 square metres of retail space on the site which would back on to the current Junction One Retail Park.

Half the retail space would be made up of a bulky goods/DIY retail warehouse with a garden centre, while the rest would be additional bulky goods retail units.

The regeneration of the site began with building a new Warwickshire College.
