NHS England in the West Midlands has launched a campaign to raise awareness of the role of health visitors and the five key visits they provide to expectant mums and families.
The Five Key Visits campaign includes posters, adverts on websites Mumsnet and Netmums and dedicated web pages – www.england.nhs.uk/healthvisitor
It also includes new contact cards for parents to keep handy with the name and contact details of their health visitor.
The campaign highlights that every family should have a named health visitor who can offer them a range of advice and support on everything from breastfeeding and weaning to immunisations and minor illnesses from birth until their child is five years old.
Julia Neall, Health Visiting Transformation lead for NHS England, West Midlands, said: “We’re delighted to launch this campaign which has been developed following feedback from parents and families of young children across the region.
“We hope that the campaign will raise awareness of the five key visits that parents and families can expect from their health visitor and encourage them to seek help and advice from their health visitor when they need it.”
The campaign runs until October 1 2015, when the responsibility for commissioning health visiting services transfers to local authorities.
