HUNDREDS of people took part in a Wolston fundraiser like a duck to water.
Crowds of all ages gathered on April 10 to watch 1,600 plastic ducks make a splash in the popular fourth annual race organised by 1st Wolston Scouts.
They all had someone cheering them on, hoping their £1 sponsorship would get their duck past the finishing line first.
Scout leader Kevan Gibbings, said: “The event raised £1,600.
“Some of this will be donated to local groups and the remainder will be spent on the maintenance of the Wolston Scout headquarters and equipment for the various sections Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.”
Organisers would like to thank Brandon Hall, Cosford Shooting Range, Wolston Co-op, The Royal Oak Brandon, Omars, John Montgomery, Lee Barnett Hairdressing, Wolston Leisure Centre, Castle Riding School, Belle and Balloons, Ruth Underwoo and Amy for the Zumba lesson etc.
They would would also like to thank all the other organisations that supported the event and helped to make it such a success - the WI, Brownies, Guides, Scout Association and a number of local businesses that sold jewellery, plants, food and ice cream.
Thanks have been paid to Paul Simpson and everyone involved in tickets sales, special thanks to Douglass Motors.
