A RUGBY swimmer is swapping her high heels for flippers when she swims two miles in Windermere - England’s largest natural lake.
Nikki Allett is taking the plunge next Friday to raise funds for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance.
She said: “I’ve loved the water since I was a little girl.
“I find swimming to enjoyable and therapeutic I thought it would be a good idea to help a worthwhile cause while doing something I love.”
Nikki, 48, has been training for the challenge at LA Fitness centre in Rugby. She said: “I could swim forever, it’s the cold I’m really dreading, it’s going to be freezing.
“I’ve had lots of support and I’m still looking for sponsors. The air ambulance is a brilliant charity that any of us could need.”
