Advertisement: Rugby & District Prisoners of War Flag Day, Saturday, September 2. Help our men, the parcels are essential, they reach our men safely. Please give liberally! By so doing you will assist the Rugby Prisoners of War Help Committee to ensure a continuance of the weekly parcels of food and clothing to our own men. The men who have fought for you and are now experiencing the unspeakable hardships of German Prison Camp life look to you to help to keep them from starvation.

August 19, 1966

The Mayor of Rugby, Coun Stan Carter is trying to establish a link with Rugby, North Dakota. He said yesterday: “I have been in touch with the American Embassy in London and it appears that the town is predominantly agricultural and has a population of almost 3,000. It is about the geographical centre of North America.” The last official contact between the towns was in 1959 when letters of introduction were exchanged between the civic heads following a visit to Rugby of a Los Angeles man who saw the then Mayor Ald. PA Batt.

At last the moment everyone has been waiting for - the results of the Advertiser’s competition to name our two cute guide dog puppies. All sorts of different names were suggested and choosing the best two was a difficult decision. But, by popular demand the loveable young pups will be called Tiser and Albert. These two most appropriately named dogs will provide a lifeline for blind people.
