CHILDREN at Bawnmore Infant School in Rugby enjoyed a monster event on Tuesday.
The school was lucky enough to host a tea for 60 children with popular TV and book character The Gruffalo.
Pupils took part in activities including singing, dancing, making masks and having their photos taken with their guest.
Jenny Horton, administrator at the school, said: “The event was organised by the Friends of Bawnmore and was a huge success.”
The Gruffalo is a children’s book by author and playwright Julia Donaldson, illustrated by Axel Scheffler.
It tells the story of a mouse’s walk in the woods and mysterious animal encounters.
The book has sold 10.5 million copies, has won several prizes for children’s literature, and has been developed into plays on both the West End and Broadway.
It was closely followed by The Gruffalo’s Child and was penned for readers aged three to seven.
Both books are written in rhyming couplets, featuring repetitive verse with minor variance.
Jenny added: “It coincided with Gruffalo author Julia Donaldson becoming the Children’s Laureate.”
