RUGBY MP Mark Pawsey has visited the Olympic Park site in London.
Mr Pawsey took part in a visit designed to show MPs the progress that is being made in Stratford and give them an opportunity to question the Secretary of State for Culture, Media and Sport, Jeremy Hunt MP, who has responsibility for the Olympics.
Construction is nearing completion on all of the main sporting venues in the park, as well as much of the new infrastructures, utilities and transport links.
The parklands are also taking shape with around 50,000 plants and more than 1,000 trees already planted.
Following the visit last week Mr Pawsey said: “I am really impressed with the size and scale of the park.
“Like everyone, I monitor developments in the press, but having visited the site I can say that it is going to be a really impressive venue.”
He added: “I hope that many people from Rugby have been successful in their bid for tickets to this once in a lifetime opportunity.
“Having visited the park, it certainly promises to be a real spectacle.”
