A number of overnight closures will be taking place on the M1 near Junction 19 this week as part of the Highways Agency’s ongoing improvement schemes in the area.

The closures are necessary to install temporary barriers on the M1 Junction 19 Catthorpe improvement work and the M1 junction 19 to 16 central reserve barrier renewal scheme.

The southbound carriageway will be closed between the exit and entry slip roads on the nights of Tuesday 14, Thursday 16, Sunday 19, Tuesday 21 and Thursday 23 October.

Traffic will be diverted off the M1 at junction 19 on to the M6 northbound, where it will turn around at junction 1 and head south to rejoin the M1.

In addition the M1 to M6 northbound entry slip road will be closed this Sunday. Traffic will be diverted to junction 20 of the M1 on to the A4303, A5 and A426 to join the M6 at junction 1.

The closures take place from 10pm to 5am on Sunday nights and 9pm to 6am on weeknights.

Road users are also advised that it is no longer possible to travel from the M6 eastbound to the M1 northbound and there is no left turn at the bottom of the new temporary M6 exit slip road.
